Advanced Stormwater Manager's Course - February 12

Thursday, February 12, 2026 (7:30 AM - 2:00 PM) (MST)

Description

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Basic Construction Stormwater Compliance course.

Description: This training course has been designed to go beyond simply informing participants of their obligations under the Stormwater Construction General Permit (CGP). The course and online training site provides participants with proven tools and resources as well as the Uniform Stormwater Management System (USMS) that, when properly implemented, will result in full permit compliance on the jobsite. The standardized inspection approach taught in this class can also be utilized by anyone responsible for conducting thorough CGP site inspections and audits. The one-day class is focused on using the USMS and associated forms and tools to meet the requirements of the CGP and local municipal (MS4) permit requirements. A summary is presented at the end of the day outlining how to successfully implement the USMS standardized systems and tools upon return to your project.

At the end of the course, a test will be administered, and a certificate will be issued upon successful completion. Participants will also be given access to the online USMS training and resource site where all information and materials covered in the course, as well as other useful compliance resources, can be found.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

- Explain the Colorado Stormwater Discharge Permit for Construction Activities framework and compliance requirements.

- Components of the Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) for your site.

- Understand the liability associated with non-compliance

- Implement an effective, standardized stormwater compliance program as the Uniform Stormwater Management System as a model.

- How to perform and properly document thorough site inspections and corrective actions.

- Evaluate and implement cost-effective BMPs appropriate for varying site conditions.

- How to maintain all permit-required compliance records.

When available, an inspector from CDPHE’s Water Quality Division will present an overview of the Division’s role and approach to conducting Compliance Evaluation Inspections and how they provide compliance assistance for participants in the Colorado Stormwater Excellence Program (CSEP).
