Project Engineer Bootcamp, Unit 1, Online - September 8, 10, 15, 17, 22

Monday, September 8, 2025 (2:00 PM - 4:30 PM) (MDT)

Description

ABOUT THE COURSE:

Project Engineers (PEs) play a pivotal role in the success of construction projects, with many being recent graduates or interns.  This Bootcamp bridges the gap left by higher education and targets interns or Project Engineers in the early stages of their construction careers, including those with up to seven years or experience.  It is also advantageous for craft leaders or administrative personnel aspiring to become Project Engineers.  The Bootcamp is conducted by seasoned constructors and instructors eager to impart their work experiences and nurture the next generation of construction leaders.

Upon completing Unit 1, students will understand how general contractors secure work, familiarize themselves with the relevant terminology and processes needed to pursue future work, and comprehend the Project Engineer's role in these processes.  They will also learn to efficiently visualize and interpret two-dimensional construction drawings and specifications into three-dimensional structures.  Moreover, students will distinguish between estimating and preconstruction, grasp the significance of document control, master RFI best practices, develop strategies for effective meetings and minute-taking, gain a thorough understanding of the submittal process, and recognize the critical nature of close-out activities for the successful completion of a project.

Session 1: Roles of a Project Engineer and the Importance of Document Control

Session 2: Visualizing and Interpreting Construction Documents

Session 3: Understanding Scope

Session 4: RFIs and Meeting Minutes

Session 5: Submittal Management and Closeout
